At Lakeside Junior High, we all start our day with some type of physical activity, whether it be basketball, track, soccer, PE, or something else. Whatever you are doing during this period, it is most likely energizing you for the rest of your day, as well as making you stronger in the long run.
You wake up early and get to school at some time around 7:30 a.m. The sports that you engage in at this time, before the academic part of your school day starts, are a very beneficial part of a student’s day. The exercise keeps the students active as they practice to be better at something they enjoy doing. It is extremely healthy and energizes you for the rest of the school day. Scientific studies have proven that daily physical activity stimulates your brain and strengthens your muscular system. With the ongoing constant of repeating the same workouts every day of the school week, your endurance and resistance towards exercise in general eventually become more and more enhanced. For example, if you run two miles in cross country every morning, doing it becomes so much easier as more time passes, leading to you being able to run even longer and do it at a faster pace.
When you get moving, chemicals like endorphins and serotonin are released, both of which are known to reduce stress and positively boost a person’s mood. When this happens, as a result of physical activity, it can make you a happier person overall. Additionally, regular exercise is so beneficial because it has been shown to improve memory as well as advance your ability to learn new things and process information faster. This is because the blood flow to the brain is increased when you exert effort, helping the brain function better by delivering more nutrients and oxygen.
In conclusion, every student chooses the sport they want to work at for the season, and they continue to carve away at the block of wood until it looks exactly as they want it, after practicing and getting better at their activity. As they do so, they are not just improving their skills but also their minds. The benefits you can gain from daily exercise are numerous and can lead to a flourishing school day and, in the long run, a better life. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, and in this case, practicing not only perfects your skills but also your health. So get out there and exercise!
