Under the darkness of early night
a young, nimble creature
escorts delicate things to their resting place.
It journeys over stony trails winding
beside fields of blue, gold, green, and white,
the last lights of the day sparkling far away,
glinting in its eyes and in the reflections on its glittering equipment.
It’s a difficult way with the burdens,
but knowing it isn’t the first to make this journey
gives it a sense of pride and duty
as it passes through the gate
onto the road
and finally completes
the long journey home
